Jerry Richard Lewis, 64, of Varner Lane, Buckhannon, died Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at his home.
He was born on October 11, 1955, in Upshur County. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette Y. Bunner Lewis Easton and is survived by his father James W. Lewis and wife Ruth.
On September 28, 1974, he was united in marriage to Brenda Long Lewis, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters: Leslie and husband Matthew Cutright of Buckhannon and Sarah and husband Cory Elliott of Buckhannon; one grandson Mason Cutright, and another grandchild on the way; mother-in-law Hilda Long; brother-in-law Charlie Thompson; sisters-in-law: Patty and husband Tony Rolenson and Linda Webb; special friends: Rick Jordan and Jane and Leroy Woods; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by one brother Dennis James Lewis and one sister Judith K. Thompson.
Jerry attended the Sand Run Baptist Church and was a member of the Buckhannon Moose Lodge 598. He was retired from the Upshur County Community Corrections as a Case Manager and had been formerly employed by Jenkins Ford as a mechanic. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and four-wheeling, especially with his grandson.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 7, 2020, from 5-8 p.m., at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at 10 a.m., at the funeral chapel, with Pastor Don Butcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Dale Cemetery at Selbyville.
