Introducing Pita My Heart: Buckhannon, a taste of the Mediterranean is coming to town

BUCKHANNON – North Kanawha Street will be welcoming a new restaurant in the near future.

Offering the exotic flavors of Mediterranean cuisine, Pita My Heart is expected to open at the end of March at 14 N. Kanawha Street near Miss Piggie’s.

“Residents of Buckhannon will soon be enjoying a new Mediterranean delight! Pita My Heart specializes in healthy Mediterranean boasting a variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes made from scratch using fresh, nutritious ingredients. Carnivores will fall in love with the hearty beef, chicken and lamb options prepared on the shawarma cookers,” owners Katie De La Vega and Eric Roark wrote in a press release.

De La Vega and Roark aren’t new to the restaurant industry: they are co-owners of The Social Bar, also located on North Kanawha Street.

While speaking with members of the community, De La Vega and Eric Roark often heard that Buckhannon lacks health food options.

“Our goal is to offer a fresh, healthy and fast alternative to the comfort foods that are so common in Buckhannon, so it didn’t take long to settle on a Mediterranean menu,” said De La Vega.

With locally sourced produce, Pita My Heart’s menu will focus on customizable pitas and salads as well real-fruit smoothies.

Healthy and fulfilling, the fruit smoothies are described as “guiltless and crave-able.”

The local business’ meats will be prepared on shawarma cookers and vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free and gluten-friendly options will also be available for customers with specific dietary requirements.

Pita My Heart will offer dine-in, takeout and delivery to businesses and residents in the downtown area.

The restaurant’s interior will reflect the modern and fresh menu with the relaxed casual ambience of the community.
