Hester Caroline Newcome

Hester Caroline Newcome, age 88, of French Creek, WV, died Friday, July 22, 2022, at Cedar Grove Assisted Living Facility in Parkersburg, WV.

She was born April 28, 1934, in Indian Camp, WV, a daughter of the late Guy and Cora Cutright Duke. On March 24, 1965, she married William Newcome who preceded her in death on January 7, 1994. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Bernard and Ernest Duke and her siblings.

Surviving are eight grandchildren, Angela Duke and Steve Thornton of Parkersburg, William Duke and wife Nicole of French Creek, Stephanie Duke-Chase and husband Nick of Hillsville, VA, Phillip Duke of MS, Terry Duke of Williamstown, WV, Carla Yoakum and husband Steve of French Creek, Corey Duke of Buckhannon, WV and Bradley Duke of French Creek; eleven great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Newcome was a homemaker and loved to be outside and gardening. Her family was her world, especially her grandchildren.

Friends will be received Monday, July 25, 2022, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Brandon Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in the Indian Camp Church Cemetery in French Creek.
