Golf Bucs down Elkins in dual outing

BUCKHANNON – Buckhannon-Upshur’s Easton Perkins was low medalist in a dual Big 10 Conference outing with Elkins last Thursday at the Golden Bell Golf Course.

Perkins shot a 40 for his low medalist honors.

The other Bucs to score were Jevon Westfall with a 46 and Tucker Burr and Jaden Westfall with 47s.

Parker Lockwood shot a 52 and Taylor Spratt fired a 60 for the Bucs.

Tanner Miller led Elkins with a 43.

The Bucs easily won the dual outing with a 180 while the Tigers carded a 203.

“This was a needed win and to have our scores to reflect our talent” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jason Westfall. “The team has been working hard getting extra reps and practice in. It is good to see the fruits of their labor.”

The victory gave the Bucs a 4-3 record overall and a 4-2 mark in the Big 10.

In the junior varsity contest, the Bucs defeated Lewis County by a 213-244 score. Elkins did not field a complete team.

Gage Parsons led the junior varsity team with a 52 while Jesse Hackett and Jerin Westfall each shot 53s, Allie Frye had a 55 and Carl Hines owned a 61.

The Bucs were slated to play Morgantown and University on Monday at the Pines Country Club.

They will be back in action Tuesday at the Alpine Lake Golf Course in a varsity/junior varsity contest with Preston.

On Wednesday, they will compete In the Big 10/Cardinal Classic at the North Bend Golf Course.
