Free residential paper-shredding event slated for April 29

BUCKHANNON — The Upshur County Solid Waste Authority will sponsor a free residential paper-shredding event from Saturday, April 29.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon across from the Recycling Center on Mudlick Road. Please not that this change in location is a safer and more efficient option for members of the public. Please follow the signs that will be posted at 395 Mudlick Road.

As a reminder, items accepted for recycling include newspaper, corrugated cardboard, No. 1 plastic soda/pop bottles, No. 2 clear milk jugs and aluminum/steel cans without liners. Electronic recycling is also available, and items accepted include computers, hard drives, printers, scanners, telephone equipment, copiers, wires, cables, circuit boards, video game systems, DVD players, microwave ovens and small household appliances, etc.

Commercial and residential recycling at the Recycling Center/Waste Transfer Station at 380 Mudlick Road operates from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Saturdays.
