Fall education interns complete student teaching at Glenville State University

Glenville, WV – Eleven students have successfully completed their student teaching internships at Glenville State University and will take part in Glenville State University’s December Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, December 9, 2023. 

Nicole Bailey of Elizabeth, WV completed her student teaching in English Education (5-Adult) with Amber Edwards at Wirt County Middle School and with Jennifer McCallister at Wirt County High School. Her GSU supervisors were Tracy Chenoweth and Dr. Melody Wise. She is the daughter of Rance and Denise Bailey of Elizabeth, WV.  

Josie Hill of Henderson, WV completed her student teaching in Mathematics Education (5-Adult) at Wahama Jr./Sr. High School with Heather Lloyd and Lori Zuspan. Her GSU supervisors were Tracy Chenoweth and Robert Regalado. She is the daughter of Patrick and Tina Hill of Henderson, WV.   

Abigail Long of Heaters, WV completed her student teaching in General Science (5-9) at Braxton County Middle School with Jenifer Johnson and was a Clinical Teacher of Record at Burnsville Elementary School for her Elementary Education (K-6) placement. Her GSU supervisors were Tracy Chenoweth, Dr. Ashley Kooken, and Dr. Shelly Ratliff. She is the daughter of Nancy Long of Heaters, WV.  

Kristina Lowe of Elizabeth, WV completed her student teaching in Music Education (PreK-Adult) at Lewis County High School with Allen Heath and Tina Norman and at Gilmer County Elementary School with Judy Leggett.  Her GSU supervisors were Dr. David Lewis and Tracy Chenoweth. She is the daughter of Cindy Lowe and the late Robert E. Lowe Jr. of Elizabeth, WV.  

Mary Louise Margret Pratt of Harpers Ferry, WV completed her student teaching in Music Education (PreK –Adult) at Musselman High School with James Miller and Mill Creek Intermediate with Telena Chilcott. Her GSU supervisors were Dr. Will Vann and Dr. David Lewis. She is the daughter of Ricky Pratt of Harpers Ferry, WV.  

Madison Shepherd of Daniels, WV completed her student teaching in Early Education (PreK-K), Elementary education (K-6), and Multi-Categorical Special Education (K-6) at Gilmer County Elementary School with Nicole Moyers and Crystal Smith. Her GSU supervisors were Dr. Shelly Ratliff and Dr. Gerda Kumpiene. She is the daughter of Kerri and Scott Shepherd of Daniels, WV. 

Caroline Tinnel of Summersville, WV completed her student teaching in Elementary Education (K-6) and Multi-Categorical Special Education (K-6) at Summersville Elementary School with Sandy DeMoss and Betsy Strickland. Her GSU supervisor was Dr. Gerda Kumpiene. She is the daughter of Ruth Tinnel, Davis Scanga of Hillsborough, NC, and Tim Mullens of Summersville, WV.  

Olivia VanDam of Walton, WV completed her student teaching in Multi-Categorical Special Education (K-6) at Walton Elementary School with Kharity Sampson and was a Clinical Teacher of Record at Spencer Elementary School for her Elementary Education (K-6) placement.  Her GSU supervisor was Dr. Gerda Kumpiene. She is the daughter of Kevin and Jessica Unger of Walton, WV and the spouse of Michael VanDam of Fayetteville, NC.  

Chloe Walker of Sutton, WV completed her student teaching at Burnsville Elementary School in Elementary Education (K-6) with Jessica Vandernick and was a Clinical Teacher of Record for her Early Education (PreK-K) placement. Her GSU supervisor was Dr. Shelly Ratliff. She is the daughter of Josh and Kim Walker of Sutton, WV. 

Samantha Jo Hall of Arnoldsburg, WV completed her student teaching in General Science (5-9) at Calhoun Middle High School with Joshua Johnson and Elementary Education (K-6) at Spencer Elementary School with Corena Dolan. Her supervisors were Larry Baker, Dr. Ashley Kooken, and Dr. Gerda Kumpiene.

Kyra Bauer of Layton, UT completed her student teaching in Health and Physical Education (PreK-Adult) with Diane Sharps and Julia Stewart at Gilmer County Elementary School and Amy Chapman at Gilmer County High School. Kyra was the recipient of Kappa Delta Pi’s Outstanding Intern Award for fall 2023. Her GSU supervisor was Maureen Gildein. She is the daughter of Mark and Erica Bauer of Layton, UT.
