Bonnie’s Bus, the mobile mammography unit run by WVU Medicine and the WVU Cancer Institute, stops at Community Care of Buckhannon to offer three-dimensional digital screening mammograms and breast care education. Appointments are required — call 304-473-5600, ext. 2903. A physician’s order is needed for a mammogram.
Screenings are billed to private insurance, Medicaid or Medicare when available. Patients who are uninsured or underinsured and meet the enrollment criteria are helped to enroll in the West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program, and uninsured West Virginia women 40 and older can be screened free through grant funding and donations.
