Eugene Dent (Gene) Wilson

Eugene Dent (Gene) Wilson, 97, of Lost Creek passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in Ruby Memorial Hospital of Morgantown following an extended illness.

He was born in Weston on July 19, 1921: son of the late Harry Wilson and Genevieve (Helmick) Wilson. On June 14, 1943, he married Mary Helen (Skinner) Wilson, who preceded him in death on August 21, 2010.

Gene is survived two children: Larry Stephen Wilson and wife Pam of Alum Bridge and Donald Eugene (Gene) Wilson of Lake Floyd, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister: Vieva Tharp of Weston and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Helen, Gene was preceded in death by two brothers: Kenny Wilson and Harry “Junior” Wilson and two sisters: Helen Rome and Elevon Rose.

Mr. Wilson retired from the Veteran’s Administration at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center of Clarksburg with 32 years of service. Gene and his brother Kenny started Wilson Carpet of Weston in 1963, where he was active for over 55 years.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a graduate of Weston High School. Gene officiated football, basketball and baseball for over 42 years. Earlier in his life he liked to squirrel hunt.

Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 11 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Weston Masonic Cemetery of Weston, W.Va. Interment will follow services in the family plot in Weston Masonic Cemetery.
