DHHR reports six new deaths on Tuesday as increase in COVID-19 fatalities continues in West Virginia

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Tuesday that 121 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Six additional deaths have also been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 72-year old female from Logan County, a 71-year old female from Wyoming County, an 89-year old female from Mercer County, an 82-year old female from Mercer County, an 89-year old female from Grant County, and an 83-year old female from Grant County.

Thirty-one West Virginians have now died to the virus this month, according to the DHHR.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of 10 a.m. on August 11, 2020, there have been 330,447 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 7,875 total cases and 147 deaths,” according to a press release.

New cases were reported Tuesday in Berkeley, Boone, Brooke, Cabell, Fayette, Harrison, Kanawha, Lincoln, Marion, Mason, Mercer, Mineral, Mingo, Monongalia, Morgan, Ohio, Pendleton, Pleasants, Pocahontas, Putnam, Raleigh, Randolph, Roane, Summers, Taylor, Tyler, Wayne, Wetzel and Wood counties.

About 1,865 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 5,863 people have recovered and 147 have died. The daily percent positive Tuesday was 2.45%.
