Denny Ray Howard

Denny Ray Howard, age 61, of Rock Cave, WV, died Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV. He was born May 11, 1965, in Pickens, WV, a son of the late John and Bula Bell McIe Howard.

Surviving are 10 siblings: Albert Howard and wife Betty; Joseph Howard; David Howard; Melissa O’Keefe and Lloyd “Dick” McIe, all of Buckhannon, WV; Carissa Saffle and husband John of Audra, WV; Luvada White and husband David of Elkins, WV; John C. Howard and wife Sandy of Elkins, WV; Lorraine Hayhurst and husband Roy of Tallmansville, WV; and Rosemary Robinson of French Creek, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Connie Jean McIe, and one brother-in-law, Jon O’Keefe.

Denny had a rare gift for striking up a conversation with a total stranger, always managing to leave them with a shocked look after he cleverly fit an inappropriate joke into the conversation at the most inopportune time.

Friends will be received Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in the Pickens Cemetery in Pickens.
