The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Thursday that 1,853 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 104 since the last report.
Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (23), Barbour (7), Lewis (2), Randolph (111) and Webster (1) counties. In Upshur County, that’s a decrease of three active cases in the last 24 hours.
Four additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 46-year old male from Upshur County, a 67-year old female from Marion County, an 85-year old female from Lewis County, and a 31-year old female from Mingo County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of June 24, 2021, there have been 2,986,740 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 163,744 total cases and 2,876 deaths,” according to a press release.
The daily percent positive was 1.41%.
A total of 811,998 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said. That’s about 45% of the state.
