Celebrate with Buckhannon’s biggest fireworks bonanza of the year on Friday night

BUCKHANNON — The City of Buckhannon will present the Independence Day Fireworks on Friday, June 30, following Festival Fridays’ live entertainment at Jawbone Park. The fireworks are set to light up the skies at dark, typically beginning between 9:30 and 10 p.m. Fingers crossed that the rain and storms in the forecast hold off!

Planning to paint the sky yourself? Please remember that within Buckhannon city limits, fireworks are only permitted between the hours of 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. on July 4 itself and between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. on the Saturdays preceding and following Independence Day.

Anyone who violates the city ordinance can be charged with a misdemeanor and fined, and police may seize your fireworks, so please be mindful of your neighbors!

Festival Fridays will feature Stonestreet as the headliner from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A cartoon headquarters with inflatables will be set up from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a wristband costing $12. A rock climbing wall will also be available for $5. And, as always, enjoy a full lineup of food and vendors at Jawbone Park.

Here’s the full entertainment lineup at Jawbone Park:

  • 5:00-5:45 p.m. Live Music by Eduardo Canelon
  • 6:00-6:30 p.m. Elite Rivals Twirlers
  • 6:30-8:30 p.m. Stonestreet
  • At dark: Fire twirlers from Elite Rivals

Please note that South Florida Street in front of the Public Safety Complex will be closed to traffic during Festival Fridays.

Fireworks sponsored by the City of Buckhannon will begin at dark and are best viewed from the area around the Upshur County Courthouse.

The My Buckhannon team wishes you a safe and festive Fourth of July!
