Carolyn Sue Wamsley

Carolyn Sue Wamsley, 75, of Ellamore, W.Va. died Sunday, April 12, 2020, at her home.

She was born September 18, 1944, in Lantz, W.Va., a daughter of the late Albert and Grace Potts Tenney On September 26, 1965, she married Douglas Wamsley who survives.

Mrs. Wamsley is also survived by one son, Jerry Wamsley and wife Amy of Buckhannon, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Madison Wamsley of Buckhannon; one brother, Joseph Tenney and wife Judy of Buckhannon and one sister, Oleta Watts of Ga.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers, Elvin, Leonard, Eldon and Lloyd Tenney and three sisters, Dora Brown, Nelda Lantz and Thelma Tenney.

Mrs. Wamsley was a member of the Sand Run Baptist Church and was the Pianist there for 21 years of her 65 years of playing piano. In 2018 she retired from the Little Ones Place childcare center after ten years upon her diagnosis of ALS. She was able to care for many children, which she loved to do.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at 10 a.m. in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery in Tallmansville, W.Va. with the Rev. Ralph Miller and Rev. Greg Miller officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Upshur County Schools’ Backpack Program. Please mail donations to Upshur County BOE, 102 Smithfield Street, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
