Buckhannon Community Theatre has named Felicia Burger Westfall Johnston as the 2025 Knorr Award recipient.
Johnston is one of the early pioneers of Buckhannon Community Theatre. She has been involved both on and off stage, starring as Guinevere in “Camelot” and Mother Superior in “The Sound of Music.” She volunteered countless hours as a costumer and served on the board of directors.
“We are so grateful for people like Felicia who have helped shape BCT into what it is today,” BCT said in a social media post announcing the award.
The Knorr Award was established in 2018 and named after the late James W. Knorr, a BCT founding member who launched the organization in 1971 with the musical “Annie, Get Your Gun.”
Beyond founding BCT, Knorr had a 37-year career as a music educator and choir director at Buckhannon-Upshur High School and later served as mayor of Buckhannon from 2002-2008.
The award is presented annually to individuals who have made significant contributions to the theatre.
