August is National Will Month — support WVWC by joining the Reger Society

John Reger

August is National Will Month, and the West Virginia Wesleyan College Office of Advancement has introduced a meaningful way for alumni and friends to create a lasting legacy by supporting the college through their wills.

Rev. Dr. John W. Reger’s Legacy

The Reger Society is named in honor of Rev. Dr. John W. Reger, a Methodist Episcopal pastor from the 1800s who dedicated more than 40 years to serving churches in West Virginia and Maryland. After retiring to Buckhannon, Reger became deeply involved in the local community. He played a crucial role in the establishment of what is now West Virginia Wesleyan College. Reger was known for his daily presence on campus to oversee the construction of the college’s first building. He later became one of the institution’s first trustees and a significant benefactor.

Join the Reger Society

Alumni and friends of the college who include West Virginia Wesleyan College in their estate plans or wills are welcomed as members of the Reger Society. This group of dedicated supporters is recognized for their commitment to enriching the student experience at WVWC. The college honors these contributors with an annual breakfast event during Homecoming.

To incorporate West Virginia Wesleyan College into your will and join the Reger Society, contact Nettie Aiosa ’91, Director of the Reger Society, at aiosa.a@wvwc.edu or call 304-473-8486.

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give,” said Winston Churchill.
