On June 14 at 9 a.m., American Legion Post 7 will hold its annual Flag Retirement Program at the Fire Training Center on Mudlick Road. The flags will be honorably retired from further service, and after being declared unserviceable, they will be destroyed in accordance with the prescribed procedure.

Upshur County will host a public forum on temporary emergency shelters and comfort stations Wednesday, Feb. 19, 6–8 p.m. at the Buckhannon Public Safety Complex.
Upshur County Sheriff Mike Coffman told county commissioners his office made 281 felony arrests and 601 misdemeanor arrests in 2025. He also highlighted major drug seizures through the Mountain Region Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, valued at more than $1.8 million.
